Four Part Critique
1st piece::
i see a man eating a baby which is very over dramatic.
the colors are very dark and cynical. his eyes pop and make the piece look even more crazy.
the message i get would be that men have a wild side and they are completely crazy and arent nurturing to their young.
i would not use this painting due to the fact its soooo freakin scary!!!!!
this piece seems to come from the Romantic Era because it shows emotion, dramatic, and violence.
2nd piece::
i see a dying person writing some type of letter. maybe a will. its very subtle and calm even though it isnt happy.
the colors are very light and has a lot of organic shapes.
the message i am getting would have to be that people can die happy no matter what the situation is.
i would still not hang this in my house because it deals with death and i hate death.
this painting is from the Neoclastic Era because it is calm, morally uplifting, and shows honor.

Modern Era of Art
the term "Modern Era" means the present or recent times. the period consists from the 1860s to the 1970s. The term is usually associated with art to where the traditions of the past have been thrown aside in a spirit of experimentation. modern artists had a new way of seeing art and new ideas on the art. More recent artistic production is often called contemporary or post modern art. some example of artist in the beginning of this era would be Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Georges Seurat and Henri de Toulouse Lautrec. they all started this era. Some of the other artist in around the 20th century would have to be Henri Matisse and several other young artists including the pre-cubist Georges Braque, André Derain, Raoul Dufy and Maurice de Vlaminck
